Creator of the Quest board games, Lynne Cadenhead, was recently featured in the Glasgow Herald.

Discussing Scottish Quest, the game which inspired all of the Quest games, Lynne said;

Scottish Quest is already one of the top-selling board games in Scotland, but I want to see the other UK versions in that position within the next couple of years; prove the concept in other countries; establish the online versions; and exit to a larger company within the next three years.

She also gave some insight into the development of Scottish Quest, and the other Quest board games;

The development process took about six months. It involved numerous long sessions to formulate the game-play and one heck of a lot of research to develop the content. Some historians and journalist friends helped me as it was important to ensure the content didn’t reflect only what I was interested in.

Then it came down to a strategic decision: “pile ’em high, sell ’em cheap”, or quality. I decided to aim for quality in order to differentiate the product. Hundreds, if not thousands, of games are launched every year and very few make it – it is an intensely competitive market, especially when you are up against the big boys like Hasbro and Mattel.
