What Was Robert Burns’ First Song?

Yesterday on Scottish Quest we asked “What was Robert Burn’s first song?” And the answer is “Handsome Nell“.

‘Handsome Nell’ was written in 1774 for Helen Blair. Burns later wrote that he ‘first committed the sin of rhyme’ with this work.
It was the custom to pair young couples to gather the harvest and his partner was ‘a bewitching creature…a bonie, sweet sonsie lass’.
